Story
We started on a back porch
A coffeehouse is what happens when a college kid loves mornings, coffee, and the people who show up for both. And when all of this goes very well, opportunities start appearing. This is how we ended up running the first US cafe of a 15-year-old Mexican roaster, on a side street in Burbank.

I. The partnership
A 15-year roaster, 1,800 miles south
Baja Beans started in 2010 in Todos Santos, Mexico as a coffee bean wholesaler and roasting company. Baja Beans has multiple cafes in Baja California and their beans are sold all throughout the region.
For 15+ years, Baja Beans has been dedicated to ethical coffee production.
Grown with love, from La Baja to you.

II. The Oak
Tallahassee, Friday mornings
We started at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. Inspired by the coffee world, we transformed The Oak's (our college house) back patio into a warm and cozy coffee shop. Every Friday for the rest of the year, the patio opened up to serve friends creative specialty coffee.
More than that, the goal was a space that fostered community and friendship. We believe that coffee starts with the people and the environment. Our back patio became a place of laughter, joy, and fellowship.
Through that experience, we partnered with Baja Beans Roasting Co. to bring the first Baja Beans cafe to the United States.
III. Today
A coffeehouse, not a coffee shop
The room on Olive Avenue is what we wished The Oak's patio could become. A bar built for slow Fridays. A rotation of seasonal drinks. A music station that doesn't play coffee-shop muzak. A giving tree near the door. Regulars whose orders we already have started.
Some places try to be everything. We're trying to be one thing well: a coffeehouse worth lingering for, in a town that hasn't had one quite like this.
Come early. Stay long. The mornings here move slow on purpose.
From love and joy,
Baja Beans & Co
